Hitachi Expands Long-Reach Excavator Lineup with New Models

Hitachi has bolstered its range of long-reach excavators by introducing two new models: the ZX250LC-7 SLF, weighing in at 64,600 pounds, and the heavier ZX350LC-7 SLF, tipping the scales at 84,900 pounds. These machines join the already available ZX210LC-7H SLF, a 54,900-pound model that debuted in August. The “SLF” designation, which stands for “Super Long Front,” highlights the extended reach and digging depth of these excavators, making them ideal for jobs that require maximum reach and precision.

The ZX250LC-7 SLF offers an impressive ground-level digging reach of 59 feet 8 inches, with a digging depth of 47 feet 4 inches. Meanwhile, the larger ZX350LC-7 SLF model extends its reach to 71 feet 11 inches and digs to depths of 57 feet, making it a beast on any job site requiring long-reach capabilities. Both models are powered by Isuzu diesel engines and come equipped with two selectable work modes—ECO and PWR—so operators can tailor the performance to the demands of their specific job site.

Built for Durability and Strength

Durability is a key feature of both new models. They are designed with a strengthened front structure, allowing them to handle heavy-duty tasks like dredging, barge and waterway work, roadwork, and even agricultural and site cleanup tasks. Hitachi’s focus on reliability is evident in the reinforced tail frame, undercarriage, and integrated X-Frame, which adds additional track protection for challenging environments.

Stability is further enhanced with an enlarged counterweight, which balances the machine during operation. A specially designed swing motor, control valve, and hydraulic circuit ensure precise, smooth movements across the full range of motion, allowing operators to have full confidence in the machine’s predictability, even in complex tasks.

Superior Cab Comfort and Advanced Features

Hitachi’s new SLF models don’t just shine in the performance department—they also bring a high level of operator comfort. The larger cab offers increased head and legroom, contributing to a more comfortable work environment for long shifts. Noise levels inside the cab have been reduced, making the workspace quieter and more pleasant. To further enhance the operator’s experience, the cab features an air suspension seat that’s adjustable, along with air conditioning to keep things cool during hot workdays.

In terms of technology, the cab is outfitted with an 8-inch LCD monitor that displays vital machine information. USB ports and Bluetooth connectivity offer modern conveniences, while LED work lights ensure visibility during late-night or low-light operations. Sunshades on rollers protect operators from glare, and a 270-degree bird’s-eye view provided by right, left, and rear cameras gives a panoramic view of the job site, improving safety and maneuverability.

Quick Specs and Overview

For the ZX250LC-7 SLF, operators can expect 188 horsepower under the hood, along with an operating weight of 64,600 pounds. It boasts a maximum digging reach of 59 feet 8 inches and a digging depth of 47 feet 4 inches. The ZX350LC-7 SLF steps up the power with 282 horsepower and an operating weight of 84,900 pounds, offering an even greater digging reach of 71 feet 11 inches and a digging depth of 57 feet.

Both models come equipped with a Hitachi bucket and feature a lineup of attachments that offer common connection sizes, making it easy for operators to switch between tools as needed. With these powerful new additions, Hitachi is addressing the needs of operators who require high reach and precision, while maintaining durability and ease of use on demanding job sites.
